Online usage history (itemized billing)

By: ivida | 17-02-2010 01:05

This is another idea that has been brought up several times in various forms (see usage-history tag), but

haven't yet made it to these pages. I feel very strongly about this and would like to promote this also here:

the idea is to implement a  'Usage history' or 'Itemized billing' under My_giffgaff on the webpage.

I prefer the 'Usage history', as i think the important aspects is that it enables one to monitor usage

(data is transferred, but of course also calls, and txt messages), not only the bill/balance at the end.

It would be a feature that underpins transparency and is very much in line with the philosophy

of giffgaff as an internet based and community oriented company.

I have been looking for this feature since I have joint Giffgaff. I think it is essential...

This will certainly go a long way in demonstrating giffgaff's commitment to transparency and customer satisfaction.

Telcos are required to record and store Customer Data Records not just for billing, accountancy and tax purposes but to also facilitate compliance with the states requirement for usage information via such legislation as RIPA/DRIP etc .

These CDRs can be easily made available for viewing and downloading by customers. This would reduce numerous enquiries over usage that the Agents then have to resolve. Customers spend money buying services from giffgaff and therefore are entitled to an itemised accounting for their expenditure. Willfully withholding itemised billing from customers is not the behavior expected from a company that claims to be open and transparent.

Other paygo MNOs/MVNOs are able to provide CDRs and it is time the long running request was fulfilled by giffgaff.

At the moment GG charge £10 to provide usage statement. The EU GDPR regulations coming into force from May 2018 should make GG provide itemised billing free of charge as the data subject has the right to data held by the controller free of charge. I suspect when GDPR comes into force then GG will be inundated with requests and so will see the light and provide online access to calls, texts and data used to minimise their admin.

Kind of reminds me of Ryan air charging for luggage! It’s a given that if you spend money, you are entitled to an itemised receipt on what made up the bill. Only just joined giffgaff and can’t believe that this is not on the app. Sort it ASAP please.

Agreed itemised billing should be a default. We should know where our money goes. I'd be happy enough if it was a chargeable service as long as it was £1 or thereabouts a month. Anymore and I would feel my rights to know what I've spent my money on are infringed.

I would like to be able to see itemised call details. I was previously on virgin and they provided this in your online account.
