Handling multiple SIMs from a single company/family account

By: ivida | 14-02-2010 02:10

This idea was brought up by several posts earlier (see 1,2) and Vincent has even posted

a partial solution, but apparently it hasn't yet made it to this page.

The proposal is to have the possiblity to handle more than one SIMs from

a single account. This would be useful for companies, families, couples

and any other groups, if handling of the SIMs' administration/finances

is performed by one person.

The point is not necessarily to have only a single account for the SIMs,

i understand that at the moment the system requires the creation of an

account for each SIM.

The point is much more to have the possibility to define a master account from

which you can access relevant settings of all the SIMs within the associated pool.

Not only to top-up (this is not a problem as you can top-up any number through

the giffgaff pages) but also to activate/inactivate auto top-up or set speding limits, etc.

Another important aspect of a company/family pool os SIMs would be to handle the

credits more flexibly: to have the possibility to transfer credit from one SIM to

the other. Tthere was some discussion about implementing some form of credit

transfere on giffgaff (1,2) - in my opinion company/family SIM pools would be a good

argument to push such a feature and also an excellent context for the development

and testing.

My family use GG. The Beauty of it is even if the kids use up all their credit etc they can always call me as it doesnt cost them anything.

Transfering credit etc between acconts is open to abuse and as stated only usernames need differ everything ese includingpasword and email can be the same.

Please search for and support existing ideas rather than posting yet another duplicate!

not a big deal 3 seperate accounts.

as long as you remember the usernames just use the same details as you do on the main one

not supported

This sounds a bit complicated.

In the giffgaff idea labs, it's quite common for ideas to get proposed multiple times. Sometimes this is because people don't search before posting a new idea, and other times it is because the member thinks that putting it up again will get more votes.

It's actually a really bad idea to post duplicate ideas, like this one. When looking at which ideas to implement, the giffgaff team will consider which ideas have the most upvotes, rather than which ideas have been proposed in most different threads. Proposing the same idea over and over splits the votes that the idea receives — so next time you've got an idea, please search before posting, and upvote existing ideas rather than submitting duplicates.

Imagine that something like this (an idea suggetions many many times before) would result in more payback staying in giffgaff

Maybe it's not so inconvenient to log in and out of two accounts?  I have two sims as I keep a spare phone for (my frequent) overseas visitors to use, and find no issue with logging in to two separate accounts.  Not really needed....?
