Handling multiple SIMs from a single company/family account

By: ivida | 14-02-2010 02:10

This idea was brought up by several posts earlier (see 1,2) and Vincent has even posted

a partial solution, but apparently it hasn't yet made it to this page.

The proposal is to have the possiblity to handle more than one SIMs from

a single account. This would be useful for companies, families, couples

and any other groups, if handling of the SIMs' administration/finances

is performed by one person.

The point is not necessarily to have only a single account for the SIMs,

i understand that at the moment the system requires the creation of an

account for each SIM.

The point is much more to have the possibility to define a master account from

which you can access relevant settings of all the SIMs within the associated pool.

Not only to top-up (this is not a problem as you can top-up any number through

the giffgaff pages) but also to activate/inactivate auto top-up or set speding limits, etc.

Another important aspect of a company/family pool os SIMs would be to handle the

credits more flexibly: to have the possibility to transfer credit from one SIM to

the other. Tthere was some discussion about implementing some form of credit

transfere on giffgaff (1,2) - in my opinion company/family SIM pools would be a good

argument to push such a feature and also an excellent context for the development

and testing.

This is a great idea as I currently handle the sims for ageing relatives who can't manage their accounts, they don't even have internet.

Yes, this would be great. I am managing three different accounts with same payment details. It would be good to roll the oversight of these accounts into one login.

This would be a fantastic feature to have as I also manage multiple accounts by logging in and out of accounts. Would be easier to be able to control it from my account.

I'd back this for use cases beyond just families! :-)

I'm a single customer, but I have two SIMs (And thus two accounts) - One for main mobile use, and this one which is set-aside and "kept warm" for mobile internet provisioning (Via GSM modem, or for use in dongles/iPads etc) if it's needed in the future. (The current setup actually forces this arrangement!)

Being able to manage both SIMs under the one account would be a lot more convenient for me and others in my situation, especially if there is still the facility to keep both SIMs "segregated" if desired (Meaning a virus affecting my laptop couldn't place calls and deplete the credit on my main SIM) whilst at the same time being able to monitor and control them from the one place. :-)

Though I'd not likely use it myself, I'd also support cross-SIM access to allowances. This could allow people using classic mobiles without data capability to "send" the data allowance from their goodybag to another SIM which would let them use this via their iPad or whatever. :-)

Marvellous!

Yep, I'm a new customer. Having multiple user names, using the same email is a pain in the ****. As ios keeps updating the password so I'll have to keep requesting a new password reminder.

Sort this please

I agree

At the moment you can’t have more than 1 sim in single account even if you need data only sim for iPad for your self ....

I have a sim for my phone and a sim for my ipad. I don't always renew the goody bag of the ipad as I mainly use the wifi. And now I get notified that my activity seems to indicate I'm not permanently in the country and therefore won't be able to roam from my balance. This wouldn't happen if the accounts could be linked.
