Handling multiple SIMs from a single company/family account

By: ivida | 14-02-2010 02:10

This idea was brought up by several posts earlier (see 1,2) and Vincent has even posted

a partial solution, but apparently it hasn't yet made it to this page.

The proposal is to have the possiblity to handle more than one SIMs from

a single account. This would be useful for companies, families, couples

and any other groups, if handling of the SIMs' administration/finances

is performed by one person.

The point is not necessarily to have only a single account for the SIMs,

i understand that at the moment the system requires the creation of an

account for each SIM.

The point is much more to have the possibility to define a master account from

which you can access relevant settings of all the SIMs within the associated pool.

Not only to top-up (this is not a problem as you can top-up any number through

the giffgaff pages) but also to activate/inactivate auto top-up or set speding limits, etc.

Another important aspect of a company/family pool os SIMs would be to handle the

credits more flexibly: to have the possibility to transfer credit from one SIM to

the other. Tthere was some discussion about implementing some form of credit

transfere on giffgaff (1,2) - in my opinion company/family SIM pools would be a good

argument to push such a feature and also an excellent context for the development

and testing.

Hi folks,

Just a little bit of a (long-awaited!) update from us.

We know that it’s taken a while for this idea to get off the ground, but we’re now looking at Handling multiple SIMs from one account, one of our top ideas on the giffgaff Lab. We want to understand how you feel about any problems you might be facing about managing multiple account management and if you'd be able to benefit from making this idea a reality.

We’re looking at a first version of what we’re calling ‘giffgaff Multi-account’ for the time being (official naming later will come a little later), and wanted to run it past members who voted on the idea on Lab first.

We've knocked up a little description of what this feature could do:

giffgaff Multi account

giffgaff Multi-account will allow you to manage multiple giffgaff accounts in one space - whether you own multiple devices or are responsible for a group of people.

With giffgaff Multi-account you can:

Open new accounts under one log inMonitor usage across accountsManage goodybags and top-up across accounts

Save time and keep it simple with giffgaff Multi-account.

We'd love to hear your thoughts on this idea and how it would make your lives a little easier. Pop on over to this really quick survey and share your feedback here. We can't wait to hear from you and get this idea off the ground!

I have 4 sims in 3 different phones and one iPad. It seems most strange when I first tried to purchase a second sim. i actually thought it was a mistake so I gave myself the name second coming in case someone would notice I had two accounts!! I have an old nokia which can surf the internet but I prevent it from doing that so its battery only needs charging once a week Ah bliss I have one sim in an iPad which helps with interrogating charge points for electric cars . And I have a chinese Android phone which was good value and came with a chinese instruction leaflet because I like a challenge It holds two sims and needs feeding electric juice after about 12 hrs of doing things without any request from me and I am hopelessly lost by it. I would love a multi account just for me

Everything you have described is exactly what we are asking for. Multi account? Yes please

on: 25-06-2018 10:06

Agree 100% with the multi-account proposal. In my experience GG is the only provider which doesn't already do this so it would be good to have.

Sounds great, I manage four sims currently for the family and this would make it a lot easier????

Those requirements work for me, in addition, as an existing customer managing more than one phone account I would like to be able to move the existing accounts into the new multi-account without having to create new ones.

This is a great idea for families; I'd love to log in and top up the kids' accounts at the same time as my own or get alerts when they're running out of data/credit. It would be so helpful in day-to-day life. x

Great idea I have 6 giffgaff accounts covering 4 phones and 2 iPads and it would just be great to control them all from one account

by: munchsmuse
on: 29-05-2019 14:55

Ideally you have one master account that manages separate accounts. That way if someone leaves the group then they can keep the account e.g. child becoming adult, breakup, company split. Either the master account or each managed account can make the account unmanaged. At this point the payment option must be dealt with e.g. by removing or reathorising the payment card.

Yes please! I currently pay for my own phone, my mum, dad and daughter. Ideally, I would like to have everyone's account in one place. Happy to try it out for you :-)

I have just registered a 2nd sim, was rather difficult After uch help from forums I got it to work Be good if I could manage both sims from same account

by: revphonerudd
on: 22-06-2020 16:54

Yes please, looking after my daughters phone account and mine, asking sure I am managing the differing accounts would be helpful to have one ID for the family.

by: rtorrens746
on: 31-07-2020 09:26

Agree that this is needed to allow the management of family accounts in a single portal/app.

by: cmgz1803_3
on: 08-08-2020 23:44

Yes; the way it works at the moment is frustrating to use whilst also failing to reward/acknowledge people who have chosen GG for all their mobile communication and data needs. For example: my girlfriend was on GG and introduced me to it. She then went on to get a second SIM for her tablet. I did the same for a second mobile. So we currently have 4 logins, with no consistency because the earlier accounts were set up not knowing what we would do in the future; we have gained nothing from referring ourselves; each account's missions and cashback are at different stages and don't reward us as fully as we should have been; each month we have a dilemma which goodybags on which SIM and when to top up eg: 25x4 gives us data we will never use and cannot afford so we do £25 on one, £15 on others and so on.. However we use varying amounts on each SIM month to month and invariably whatever we do never works out and leads to us running out on all at certain points, having to swap SIMs and thus numbers and so on, despite spending a lot of money and all of it with GG alone, it's a nightmare! So PLEASE sort this out. We are happy customers and this is genuinely the thing that is missing to make GG the perfect and only supplier worth knowing about. Thank you :)

It would be handy to be able to put current sims onto a multi-account and not have to set up new ones.

by: persco

It's been suggested a gazillion times and being looked into. It would be good as I have a family of five all on giffgaff that I manage their accounts and sometimes it can be a pain. I forget my passwords at times and I refuse to write them down somewhere. Hoping giffgaff implements this sometime.

Hi Labs, I see this poll has been active for quite a while. Having one portal in which you can control several sub-accounts will be very helpful when having sales agents on the field or drivers. I understand that this from a developer's perspective can be really easy to make through a React Native platform. I look forward to this to be implemented as it will provide a lot of value from a sales perspective. Not only families but businesses could see an opportunity helping GG growing, even more, when other carriers force you to get into an agreement and give you only pre-selected lines that you still have to pay on a monthly basis even if you don't use them Andres

This would be a massive help - Great suggestion

by: grahamscutt
on: 08-08-2018 07:40

This would be an excellent feature. I run a business so I run data enabled giffgaff sims from multiple devices. It really is a pain having to log in to multiple accounts.

Very good idea would be good to skip to different networks to suit your needs should get a lot of votes

by: ajg865
on: 09-03-2017 14:45

Would really like to see this implemented as I currently manage all the family Sims and logging in and out of accounts is a pain. I love the idea of transferring unused call time, sms or data to another SIM in the family, this would be a brilliant addition to this concept, as one SIM never uses data and the rest of us run out of it constantly. Please " make it so". I have been waiting patiently for this since I joined 18 months ago.

I have two of my kids on different accounts, the multi sim main account would be great as mentioned before to keep them topped up easier, alerts if the others are getting low to the main account holders handset would help further.

How about a family Goodybag too. For example 4/5 sim cars share mins/text and data and can be allocated to each sim individually. For example 100gb data that I could split 40gb/40gb/10gb/10gb, and be able to change allocation as needed (as children get older and need more data)
