Enable the ability to send voicemails as a wav attachment on a email.
Members can then store voicemails offline and not risk auto delete.
Limit the amount to avoid abuse. 5 voicemail a day.

Does have an environmental impact, as everyone would end up storing more data (data storage requires hardware and power).
This is how voicemails are managed at my company and the email also contains a transcript of the audio file. The transcripts are a little "hit and miss" but improving (sure will get better with time).

I agree, this sounds like a good idea, especially if some people prefer others reading what they’re saying then listening to them.
