Follow members as well as following posts

By: kerry81759 | 16-09-2019 21:19

I have just joined the community this evening and I was surprised to find that there isn't a button to follow other Giffgaff members.

I found the button to follow posts and receive updates when anyone else comments on that thread or reacts to your initial post but I couldn't see anyway to follow members who I found knowledgeable. It seems the logical next step from viewing members profiles to be able to follow them, similar to adding friends.

So I followed the advice and researched the community and labs for the suggestion, I found one post which described my idea.....

https://community.giffgaff.com/d/13592765-follow-members

However, it seems that the post may be misinformed as I asked a fellow member in the community forum and apparently there is no facility to do this.

I agree we should be able to have people "friends" here we can go to to ask about issues, and have support if needed (emotional) there is never a bad thing about being able to follow someone. The other of course having the option to block or not even see follow requests if they so choose, I am FOR this idea, the types of support being able to follow someone, offer alot of promising results, for giffgaff and its members, we a are part of one group remember. Some are not as comfortable saying what they like even behind a screen. Yet they could to someone they have connected with. Hypothetically, it could not change lives only, could improve or even save lives. I of course am looking at a Michch wider picture ????????

@lucyl143 thank you for your reply, I agree with your suggestion regarding 'blocking' members, as I have noticed, in the short time i have been here, several members which have a sarcastic tone to their comments, no one in particular but I think the atmosphere is too positive to allow a few bad apples upset the whole community. Blocking members would provide an easy solution to an issue which could upset any vulnerable members which may be a member of this community for company.

Unfortunately kerry81759 you already thanked this version, before and I don't want to be a buzzkill but I think they even read the ideas just paste an answer and move on to the next. Check out the time and date and the posts on other ideas on the same day and could you read and comment in this space of time

It's 1. Supporting your network 2. Supporting others, with phone issues or whatever you like to talk about. It's about our group connecting. You can be one of the ones that presses the no button. Easy lol

Hey carlc27 thanks for your comment, however it was intended to be a facility to follow helpful members, so theoretically those members who are consistently helpful would not, I would imagine, find it stalkerish in any way, rather be flattered to be considered such an important asset to the community.
