Show banned users' banned status in their profiles

By: extreme_one | 03-09-2019 07:36

Have you ever noticed that some members simply disappear?

Maybe they've just gotten bored of the community ....

Maybe they've been banned ...

Why not add a simple text box on a user's community profile when a member has been banned?

It would save the confusion that sometimes exists now.

Similar exists on other forums.

I like the idea. My partner was banned for some lie or other, but she cba fighting it.

On the Digital Spy forums if a member is banned it shows on their profile, 'banned' is next to the name.

Don't know why it's so cloak and dagger on here, it's not exactly the NSA...

Edit; supported

I think quite a few contributors will have been put off continuing when the platform changed recently. It’s taking a bit of getting used to.

If a member dies is it possible for a family member or friend to request that their profile be deleted? It must be distressing to see @ messages i.e. good mornings, still showing each day for deceased members.

As for banned members, yes I agree some sort of flag should be used or If it is a total ban then their profiles should be deleted. Why have profiles lying there inactive for eternity ????

Wouldn't this violate the alleged 'no naming and shaming' rule/guideline?

Would it be compulsory or optional?

If compulsory what about those who wouldn't want it revealed?

Would it only be for bans or suspensions as well?

What happens when someone banned/suspended is allowed back, perhaps it could be replaced with a sticker for each time to they'd been suspended/banned (if there was enough room for certain members ;-) )?

Incidentally I'd have supported the idea if the victim/ex-member had the choice of whether it was displayed or not.
