Account Balance Web Service

By: linuxdoc | 23-08-2019 23:07

Web service for account balance queries. Would use something like http get query with username, password and a web service key token to stop brute force attacks etc.

Would return balance (in £), goodybag remaining mins, remaining texts, remaining data and expiry.

I want to integrate my GiffGaff account balance into software on my laptop. Would be handy just to query a web service and get data returned in a consistent format so I can display account balance etc on my laptop's top status bar.

Yes, there are many easy ways to get your balance, but only from your mobile handset. To do it automatically from A.N. Other IP-connected device you'd have to write script to negotiate the HTTPS cert exchange, the login and then parse a large amount of HTTP data to get your balance from the Dashboard on the web. It would be nice to get your balance returned say in JSON format, and I can't see it'd be too hard to implement on GiffGaff's side -- **** I'll even do it for them if they give me a VM and DB connection details! :)

At the moment, I'm still using a handset to obtain my balance and using the wonderful Tasker and SSH plugin to dump my balance data into my laptop, which is fine, but the web service would be nicer and neater :)

Sounds interesting and can't see it too complicated to do so I will support to see what giffgaff say.
