Consider ALL usage before closing an Account

I am a very low user in terms of making calls, texts and mobile data. But, I receive a number of calls and many texts every month. With the introduction of extra authentacation for Banks, every login causes a One time passcode to be texted to me to enter. So it's vital that I have a working phone. I also use my phone for emails and browsing but use my home WiFi and not mobile data.
I get an email from you most months
asking - where are you? I tell you I am a low user but you keep asking,
The latest one says that if I don't use it, you will take all my
credit and close my Account.
It seems that you assess a customers usage soly based on calls, texts and mobile data that I make BUT the calls and texts that I receive are ignored.
Can you please consider including calls and texts received when assessing a low user.
I am a retired person and take my phone when out and about to use in an emergency - fortuneatly, I have not had to use it - yet.
Regards
David
When GiffGaff scared me by saying they might close my Account because I wasn't using the phone enough (according to the current rules).

Really cannot support this.
It only takes one 5p text every six months to keep a SIM active.
Any less usage than this and giffgaff have every right to consider a SIM and account as unused.
They do send two warnings before termination and it is down to you to decide to spend 5p or not to keep the account active.

I agree

I too agree. If giffgaff didn’t have a cut off time for inactive SIM’s they’d be overloaded with inactivate account.

not bad idea though

Good idea. Supported. You shouldn’t have to spend 5p to keep your sim active, even if it is a small amount. Giffgaff should see that the sim is active in that it receives messages and calls.

Supported

I can't support this I'm afraid as it only takes one call or text message every six months to keep your sim card active. Deactivation after six months is not unique to GG and in fact some other networks are shorter than this (as low as every 84 days). The reason is so that unused numbers can be re-used. If they didn't do this, the possiblity of running out of numbers would increase.

Supported this idea

Generally agree. Some people don't use the phone much but they have now become essential for some things.

I thought dialing a freephone number counted? It doesn't even need to cost you anything
