Consider ALL usage before closing an Account

By: dawragg | 09-08-2019 14:21

I am a very low user in terms of making calls, texts and mobile data. But, I receive a number of calls and many texts every month. With the introduction of extra authentacation for Banks, every login causes a One time passcode to be texted to me to enter. So it's vital that I have a working phone. I also use my phone for emails and browsing but use my home WiFi and not mobile data.

I get an email from you most months asking - where are you? I tell you I am a low user but you keep asking, The latest one says that if I don't use it, you will take all my credit and close my Account.

It seems that you assess a customers usage soly based on calls, texts and mobile data that I make BUT the calls and texts that I receive are ignored.

Can you please consider including calls and texts received when assessing a low user.

I am a retired person and take my phone when out and about to use in an emergency - fortuneatly, I have not had to use it - yet.

Regards

David

When GiffGaff scared me by saying they might close my Account because I wasn't using the phone enough (according to the current rules).

Really cannot support this.

It only takes one 5p text every six months to keep a SIM active.

Any less usage than this and giffgaff have every right to consider a SIM and account as unused.

They do send two warnings before termination and it is down to you to decide to spend 5p or not to keep the account active.

Surely it costs GiffGaff nothing to keep a number active? Elderly users have a different phone use culture, but that one call they make might be a life saver.

I'd like a number for life option however it would work.

Do Giffgaff have a 'receive' text number that people can send a "keep alive" text to?

It's a different suggestion but perhaps the company should think about some kind of specific "elderly package" including phones to suit, eg easier to read numbers and emergency dial button?.

I don't think this is needed or deserved. Sorry.

I am sort of behind your suggestion, however I don't think it is much to connect with the internet or call/ text once every six months.

One can keep the account open by making one text every 6 months, surely thats not too much?

Stick the renewal date in the diary & bobs yer uncle.
