SIM security

Regarding: Combating SIM Theft.

I can’t believe that this hasn’t been done already (phone accounts get hi-jacked). Setting up a pass phrase, so that if I ever need a new SIM, I have to give the pass phrase before I can activate said SIM.

Thanks

yes I’ll agree to this, giffgaff let my number be transferred onto a sim swap I never asked for when I contacted them they said it was confirmed and had been sent to another giffgaff sim.. BUT IT WASNT ME so they let my account be hacked and still they haven’t done nothing about this. New sim and number and not one bit of help off the agents.

This is a great idea which would give a lot of people peace of mind. There should be something put in place which would make it harder for scammers and like @rathony34 said maybe an email authorisation could be a good way to do this, or we could be given an option of how we want it to be done. We could also set up secret questions which is something people might find familiar.

Anything that has a password can get hacked into unfortunately but maybe try to change it

we should be able to down load a master app to our email which over rides our mobile app so we can control our Sims or phones from it in case phone gose missin or such as like as asked SIM hijack
