Helping Small Business

By: spaniard68 | 14-02-2019 14:29

I've chosen GiffGaff (why wouldn't you) as the mobile provider to my small business. We all use monthly goody bags to keep us connected while we are out and about. It would be supper helpful if VAT receipt was emailed out automatically when the goody bag is paid for to help business be really efficient.

Since giffgaff T and C's currently exclude business use, does this mean that giffgaff are considering catering for business users officially? (Given the 'We're looking into it' category that this idea is currently in. In that case I would suspect, as with other network, that the packages sold as for business (and having the VAT receipt available) would cost more, due to the higher compensation that would be needed/expected in the case of any future network outages.

If a number of you are all on giffgaff, would it not be more efficient for each number to buy one airtime top up every 3 months? This gets the free to giffgaff calls and texts, to keep you all in touch. Goodybags seem unnecessary unless someone is also calling customers frequently or needing data for a mobile satnav etc.

Actually the Terms don't exclude business use, unless you can point me to the clause? Commercial use is different from business use. 3.5. Your use of the Services must be for your private, personal and non-commercial purposes.  https://www.giffgaff.com/terms#ProvisionofService

Some business currently do use giffgaff, providing the staff with a sim and phone and a recurring goodybag. The issue around VAT is it as great as people think, if the savings on call costs is Margam is little it can outway the loss of VAT as the input element. HMRC are interested that you charge output VAT as a business it’s upto you to ensure you claim the input elements, and in my experience far too many businesses fail to do this mainly because of the cost of getting proper VAT documents. As far as limiting liability for outages in my view limit to 1/28th of the monthly cost for each day or part there of, I often think back to the days before mobile phones and trying to find a phone box to ring the office, often were the dates of stuck in traffic or the phone wasn’t working????, now you cannot even go down a side street without having to explain why you didn’t follow the Satnav.

Now that giffgaff is getting more successful, it would be great to do business support as well! Nice idea!
