Ability to disable data on Pay As You Go credit.

By: pxwell | 21-11-2018 14:55

I would like the ability to disable data usage on Pay As You go credit from the GiffGaff dashboard just like you can with International calls.

When a goodybag data allowance has used up, I do not want the continued use of data to use up all the available credit on the account. I want to protect that credit so it can be used for continued calls, texts, MMS messages etc. This would avoid any unnecessary expense to GiffGaff members.

This would also be very beneficial to parents to encourage their children to manage their data usage properly and prevent the risk of using up all their credit, which in my case they occasionally use to call/text their grandparents in Europe or to send MMS messages.

I totally understand your problem as it is one I often have myself. It's easily solved by going to mobile and sim in your settings and turning it off. It's much quicker than going to your dashboard would be, so I don't really see a need for it.

I agree that turning data off on your phone is easy. But that relies on you checking exactly when you run out of goodybag data before giffgaff starts charging airtime credit. So it's much easier if we can prevent airtime credit being used for data unless we switch it on. Therefore I wholeheartedly support this idea.

Can see this needed if don't want to eat in to your credit once data allowance runs out and forgot to turn off data connection or if had data allowance then auto changes to use credit while still on the internet 3g/4g

turn data off on your phone settings or set it to a limit.there is no need for giffgaff to do this

I like the idea of getting control of this, it has been an issue for me on multiple occasions. Especially as sometimes at home my phone sometimes decides to use giff Gaff data rather than my home network!
