Anti Virus recommendation on Website / offer price

By: timwilliams25 | 11-11-2018 09:21

With most people moving their entire lives online, many no doubt forget about the potential pitfalls of this.

I would like to see giffgaff promote either a FREE or Special Offer price for a good quality, industry standard Anti Virus programme, for use on mobiles, PC, etc etc.

The offer would be limited to people who have an active giffgaff sim card, possibly for a period of time (1-2 months).

I know there are many free anti-virus apps out there, but some people may be reluctant to download from unknown sources etc. If giffgaff offered the option with a link from their website, then I think it would boost people's confidence in installing this type of software. I am sure somewhere on the website, there will be a link/webpage on KB that may well talk about Antivirus, but it is not easy to find for most.

Thoughts please.

Good idea in principle but I don't know if it would be a bit too complex at giffgaff's end.

They would have to negotiate with the anti-virus provider in the first instance.

However it is the case that the vast majority of mobile users don't implement any sort of antivirus on their devices.

The other thing to bear in mind is that most scams are the result of things and user-related activity that an anti-virus program would not prevent.

In fact there are good free antivirus options for mobile phones - it just takes a little research on the net.

Exactly, using your own words.... there are good free antivirus options for mobile phones - it just takes a little research on the net.... Then why don't giffgaff just promote these, save people doing the research. Very hard to find something you are not looking for.

I think this is a really useful idea and could benefit many giffgaffers.????

I think we can skip this one. Many other sources for such recommendations.

Yes, but do giffgaffers know these other sources? Why can't giffgaff be a source too. Doesn't cost anything, just a link to free stuff maybe

That could work but would need a way to differentiate from others who provide antivirus recommendations also.
