Support older users: consolidate short dial codes

By: checkincherry | 07-06-2018 16:24

Much is written on the forums about the target gg user being young and tech savvy. I've just read/replied to a query in community about helping older parents enjoy the benefits of gg. As I was writing had a thought that would make life easier for older users who want things as simple as possible.

Having just moved my parent to gg, I have helped them by entering all the different gg short dial codes into their contacts. They use these numbers as they don't check their account online without me sitting next to them and showing them how to do that. Why does there have to be a different code to find out outstanding balance, outstanding goodybag minutes, outstanding goodybag texts, time left for free gg to gg calls?

If there could be one call number and one standard reply SMS setting out all these things on one screen , it would make my parent's life a whole lot easier (and mine 'cause they wouldn't call me to check something they can easily check themselves.!)

I think it would help make gg more accessible to older users which can then be used to help market gg as a "friendly to technophobes" network not to mention simplifying the gg experience of those users who rely on NOT using the internet to manage their gg account.

i agree. im not particularly old, like im here on website at the moment, but am on VERY rarely and get my husband to do ALL the tech stuff needed and i must admit it is the one thing that put me off moving to gg although my experience has been great i wouldnt have moved if i didnt have someone at home to do all the things i dont understand

This is my 6th number with giffgaff an although its potent that I'm obviously a loyal user...it's always because my phone number has been unidentified wen using online to try top up.. it asks for a number to proceed wen I've some how got username or.....etc wrong an claims to not identify my number??? w.t.h??

child lock is impossible to disalarm aswell and having to use the neighbours wi fi to delve into fabguys com after catching my ex on a *** website was more of an annoyance than actually Catching the woppa...on a *** website...

There seems to be a hint of being patronised if one is an 'elderly' gg. Yes , I'm not good at all the techy stuff but l can do the internet and am very fond of shopping on it.l basically turn my hand to most of what is there but not the 'social' stuff. Not my scene.....I'm still a 60's Hippy at heart! But I get along quite nicely and not all of us need our hands held when phoning!!! Help people your own age who can't do anything without a phone ????in their little, sweaty hands......

I totally agree! But on a side note re older users, my parents have mobile phones but use them only when needed. Just make it easier for people who don’t have the basic skills or confidence online. People who don’t own or want a smart phone. My parents are in their 70s and I’ve had a **** of a job explaining their new tv...

I support this idea!

We do forget sometimes that not everyone are tech experts and comfortable with the navigations we provide.

Brilliant suggest
