Free to Roam

By: naomirehman | 24-04-2018 08:22

We need to update our roaming website as it shows roaming charges for those countries where we don't have local network o2 partner or can say we don't have 'Pay as you go service'.available. For example - Vietnam.

It should be updated on Roaming Website that no roaming service available for these Country when such particular country is entered or selected to check the roaming charges. Thus members will prepared or will look for an alternative while roaming into this countries.

If, implemented then there will be less or no queries for Agents and on community forum regarding these countries and also perfect Roaming Website will be completed which provide not full but at-least most of the info before members leaving UK to other Countries.

More important, the wicked quid-a-minute roaming charge needs to be brought down to something more reasonable. Right now it's just a wicked overcharge in many countries.

I agree. Look at Australia half the population are UK related. So unfair £ a minute to talk to lived ones!

The US, Canada, New Zealand, and India's local PAYG rates are 1/33 that of giffgaff's roaming rates. It's absurd What were they thinking with 1£ a minute, local carriers can get 3p a minute in some areas

As it was censored/deleted:

There are advisory/warning messages clearly displayed when appropiate, for example on the Vietnam page it states:

Roaming coverage cannot be guaranteed in this destination, and some services may not be available. More info

This should be posted in Contribute not Labs.

I agree too. Example is the Philippines. Only o2 business account holders apparently have Roaming working for them.

This is priced just in case a member manages to hook up a mast say close to the bother of another country that offers it so that giffgaff don’t lose out on the Roaming charges but I agree this info should be clearly given so members don’t get caught out or assume the can roam because the pricing info is there for that country even though there are no o2 affiliates.
