Electoral Register listing Allows Adult Content Access

By: frpc | 18-01-2017 14:02

This simple idea would assist those who do not have a Driving Licence or Passport. New rules mean that you have to prove your identity to your local council. Usually through providing your National Insurance Number, the council checks your age and ID with Government website and includes you on the next published register. Giffgaff could then check a member's age in the same way they do now with passports and licences. It really is that easy.

Adult Content Access via Electoral Register (Labs Status: We're looking into it)on: 10/10/2017 | 15:03 by: alex_w

Hi all,

Just a quick note that we're continuing to evaluate a range of options. Ultimately we're going to need to pick one that works the best for members while still meeting the requirements of the yet-to-be-published new guidance. Part of that will be minimising cost as far as possible, as well as making the process as quick and easy as possible for all members.

If your registered on Giffgaff then your age should be in your profile.. So if it's your phone, put a password in to access adult stuff...

Rubbish idea! I don't have a passport because I can't afford to go on holidays, and I am not registered to vote because until a government actually comes up with the idea of not taxing us, then why should they have my details and pester me every time an election comes up, anyway coming to the main subject restricting a user what he/she wants to see is a surefire way of losing customers (of course we are all concerned about children getting onto inappropriate websites, but the real question that needs to be asked is why was that child given a phone or tablet and then left unattended?)

Great idea. Thought the way Giffgaff does it was out of order if you didn't have either to show them. I have both but still ain't showing them to god knows who. Far to many unsavory characters about so mine stays where it is.

Something really needs to change on this as it stands...I could not enter my passport in for what reason i dont know?! So it's expired now ,cant afford a new one ,dont drive so why cant you get age from bank details that Pay for my goodybags? I desperately needed information about drug addiction and couldnt access any information whilst being nearly 50..because couldnt prove i was over 18!!!! madness.

Yes - excellent idea.

I do have both a driving license and a passport - BUT, I do not want to submit either into yet another database. Data security issues etc. giffgaff already have my credit card details, address and postcode. Please go check the electoral role to confirm who I am and how old I am...

With age verification coming in early next year (already a law) to access adult content, if you have a mobile contract you can use a service that checks against your mobile contract, if Giff Gaff could be added to this by them doing checks when you sign up that would be great, however, there is a charge for these checks so who will pay?

The new services coming online to check with regards to adult content will check against the electoral roll, but the mobile system I have seen works is great. It's fast and works.
