Make the "Reply" button automatically insert a @ mention

By: extreme_one | 20-10-2016 18:15

I see many giffgaffers in the forum use the "Reply" button with the belief that it will actually reply directly to the person they wish to respond to.

It doesn't work that way.

I have been tagging posts that I have noticed where people have assumed that the reply button actually replies to the person they're addressing.

Infuriatingly, because the "Reply" button is positioned beneath every post, it leads people to believe it actually works as a direct reply to the person they are responding to.

I propose that the "Reply" button, which appears beneath every post, should be relabled as "Quote" and it should automatically include the quote of the post the button is attached to.

Following a suggestion by harrrrrry I feel it would be more useful if the existing "Reply" button automatically added a @ mention.

harrrrrry said; "That makes it clear whose post is being replied to, but the poster is still free to remove it if the reply is not for a particular post, or insert a quote extract if the reply needs to refer back to a specific point."

Cool I just still can't access the new community in anything but a basic read only format, look forward to checking it out for myself either when I get back home or if giffgaff fix whatever bug is stopping windows phones from using the community.
