Choose your own number

By: padiho | 07-10-2015 13:51

Have recently seen this Elsewhere and thought it might be a good way for giffgaff to improve their revenue and for those that want an easier number to remember.  It gives a list of available telephone numbers and charges extra ( £3.99 ) for those that are easier to remember because of repetitive numbers. Eg. 07588822200.

suppose its a good idea but after you have had the same number for years it is not really a problem to remember it

A few networks offer you a choice of easier numbers when registering, but none of the ones I know of charge.

to have the choice offered is great for those with memory issues, but to hold those numbers back and charge for them is just wrong. Also it would deprive those who would benefit, but unable to pay, a chance of having such a number.

Im not voting for a corrupt two tier system.

hi

great idea. but i fail to see the emotional value we attach to numbers. first of all you dont need to remember the number anymore as there are easy way to pass your number to others

for example how many of your friends numbers do you remember? the thing is once your number is your in your phone, no one tried to memorise it.

Hi,

yes this is a good idea if giffgaff have are able to allow this for us members.

However, is there a system that giffgaff use for this? How much will it cost giffgaff?

Thank you!

That's a good idea as I can never remember my phone number. I guess there's compications with codes but twenty zeros would be easy enough as a one off. I had a really easy number with t-mobile once but they wouldn't let take it with me when the contract ended.

I was lucky with my number which wasnt a gold but included plenty of numbers which meant a lot to me including virtually my date of birth :).,if you need a gold number buying off ebay and tranferring is probably a easier way.

they do that in China

and when you choose a number with lots of 8 lucky number  is more expensive

if you choose a number with 4 is cheaper because is the unlucky number, like 13 in wester culture

found it fun, and weird

of course i picked a number full of 444:)

As you can change your number once as per giffgaff offer then i support the idea of choosing a number from a list... However it not particularly hard to memorize any number if you putnin the effor to learn it.
