Personalised goodybags

GiffaGaff For The People By The People. (I love this idea)

So my idea goes like this- Instead of having set plans i.e £12 for so many minutes, texts, and data; you have the option to pick how many minutes, texts, and data you want. The cost is processed from the relavant ammounts you choice, and everyone is happy (hopefully).

I'm not sure if this makes much sense (the festive times have certainly catched up with my senses) so I've attached a picture I created on paint. You're welcome to even use my wonderful 'slider' idea and the catch phrase.

You have my vote.

Sadly i believe i understand why this was stamped with "Not for Us".

If i understand things correctly then the reason is similar to the whole reason why Goodybags expire at the end of the month. You buy your mins/texts/data in bulk for a good price, and the waste is giffgaff's profit. If you could make your own personalized Goodybag then you would pick what would result in the least amount of waste. Giffgaff is able to give the prices they do because of the average wastage.

( Giffgaff alerted us recently that they are going to be able to lower the prices of Goodybags in order to better compete with other providers. Unfortunately to do so, however, they are increasing Pay as You Go rates. )

I do see 2 ways in which personalized Goodybags could theoretically work:

# 1: is if giffgaff made the special personalized Goodybags more expensive than normal Goodybags, and this likely would end up at only slightly cheaper rates than Pay as You Go.

Only reason it would be cheaper at all is because the Goodybag still expires at the end of the month, whereas when you top up Pay as You Go, as long as your SIM remains active, it doesn't expire -thus you have it possibly forever, until you've used it all up: thus no wastage-. As long as there is an expiration date there will be wastage, if only accidental.

I'd be all for a personalized Goodybag being more expensive than normal Goodybags but a tiny bit less than Pay as You Go.

In fact i think this would make those who only use Pay as You Go much more likely to step over to Goodybags. Myself included.

# 2: Another way to make it possible would be if giffgaff set certain limitations to the sliders for the personalized Goodybag, so that you *have to* always include a minimum of so many minutes or data, etc in order for giffgaff to still make enough profit to make personalized Goodybags feasible, but you'd still get a Goodybag slightly more tuned to your needs. It's a compromise.

So then why still "Not for Us"? Why not at least "Under Consideration"?

Surely there are factors i haven't thought of... but mainly likely because:

— there isn't enough profit in it;

— they would have to set up a new system and UI for it;

— things would become more complicated overall (just future changing of prices for example);

and

— simple lack of imagination and motivation.
