Top up giffgaff via Bank ATM Cashpoints - Revisited

By: richardski | 16-05-2014 09:11

This provides a 24 Hrs on the High Streets top up facility when all the shops selling vouchers are shut and you have no access to an Internet connection.

Previously suggested as per below links and rejected as too expensive.  However other small MVNOs use it and as giffgaff numbers have increased now is a good time to review the situation.

Just see which friendly MVNO is missing from these links:

Top up your mobile

As well as topping-up your own pay-as-you-go phone, you can gift credit to friends and family simply by inputting the operator and phone number of the phone you want to credit.

Top up at any cash machine that has the green top-up logo. Just follow the instructions. The money will come out of your account and we'll send you a text to confirm. You can top up between £10 and £50.

Already works for O2 and as giffgaff use O2 vouchers should not be that difficult to set up.

All giffgaff need to do is talk to the below:

You can top-up someone else's phone direct from an ATM.
Perfect if you want to top-up your child's phone, or help your Mum or Dad top-up theirs. All you need to know is their mobile number and their network operator.

That does show there is persistent demand for this payment service.

Offer your support for this and help out people who have difficulty in reading their vouchers:smileyhappy:

A search before posting would have revealed existing ideas to support rather than posting yet another duplicate and further weakening any support, members should add their support to this well presented and supported idea which is being looked into by giffgaff:

This is not something I even knew existed but if its something that would be easy for giffgaff to implement then I suppose it a good idea for some.

As you can top up using your debit or credit card directly, I'm not sure what this would add.

Maybe you didn't know, but the giffgaff idea labs have a search function found at http://labs.giffgaff.com/browse, which allows you to check if an idea has already been suggested by someone else. A quick search would have found that this idea fits into that category as it's been suggested a number of times before.

Another common misconception about the ideas site is that proposing the same idea over and over will make it more likely to be adopted. Giffgaff staff choose ideas to adopt based on them receiving lots of upvotes. Writing the same idea again and again actually makes it less likely that the idea will get adopted, as it causes upvotes of other members to be split between lots of different ideas.

Next time you're considering posting an idea, think about doing a quick search first so that you can check if it's been proposed before, and upvote the older idea instead.

I'd absolutely love this idea to be implemented. It has a lot of kudos / votes, nothing from giffgaff yet??

This is still a good way for customers to top up when there is no access to a computer and the local shops are shut.
