Top up giffgaff via Bank ATM Cashpoints - Revisited

By: richardski | 16-05-2014 09:11

This provides a 24 Hrs on the High Streets top up facility when all the shops selling vouchers are shut and you have no access to an Internet connection.

Previously suggested as per below links and rejected as too expensive.  However other small MVNOs use it and as giffgaff numbers have increased now is a good time to review the situation.

Just see which friendly MVNO is missing from these links:

Top up your mobile

As well as topping-up your own pay-as-you-go phone, you can gift credit to friends and family simply by inputting the operator and phone number of the phone you want to credit.

Top up at any cash machine that has the green top-up logo. Just follow the instructions. The money will come out of your account and we'll send you a text to confirm. You can top up between £10 and £50.

Already works for O2 and as giffgaff use O2 vouchers should not be that difficult to set up.

All giffgaff need to do is talk to the below:

You can top-up someone else's phone direct from an ATM.
Perfect if you want to top-up your child's phone, or help your Mum or Dad top-up theirs. All you need to know is their mobile number and their network operator.

That does show there is persistent demand for this payment service.

Offer your support for this and help out people who have difficulty in reading their vouchers:smileyhappy:

Most users transferring to giffgaff were able to do ATM top-up with their old service provider,

and naturally expect to be able to do this on giffgaff.

What is the explanation for this not being available:  technical or economic ?

Nice. Idea should be implemented

Hello there, and welcome to the Labs. It looks like you may be unfamiliar with how things work here, so let me give you some advice.

The Labs work best when users search for ideas and upvote them, because multiple ideas about the same thing don't get merged together as it's too operationally difficult. When considering what ideas to implement, giffgaff uses the ideas with the most upvotes as a guide.

On this occasion, by choosing not to search for an idea and instead churning out yet another rehash of something that we've seen before, I'm afraid you've made it more difficult for your idea and the previous copies of it to get implemented. Please think about searching before posting in the future.

As a previous is marked "being looked at " this may well happen if it is or becomes financially viable.. It would be useful if no local shops or garages were open.

Hi there. You might not be aware, but giffgaff selects ideas for implementation based on what gets the most upvotes. It isn't possible to combine upvotes across several different ideas because ideas are not easy to combine without a lot of human effort.

By choosing not to search the idea database and instead spewing out another copy of an idea that's been proposed before, I'm afraid you're adding to the problem by splitting upvotes between multiple ideas, and possibly condemning both never to see the light of day. Please think about this next time you're looking to suggest an idea.
