Give out free SIM cards at Heathrow arrivals

By: nfh | 02-04-2014 10:49

When I landed at Heathrow Terminal 5 last week, I saw this vending machine for SIM cards in the baggage reclaim hall at arrivals. Giffgaff should find a way to distribute its SIM cards either from this machine or for free from somewhere else near to it in order to avoid losing business on visitors to the UK. Perhaps there is an opportunity for giffgaff to do this in the new Terminal 2 which will open on 18th June.

Great idea, but if they're going to be aimed at foreigners then the language needs to be really clear on the packaging and instructions as people are not going to understand the difference between credit and goodybags.

Perhaps they could do one that costs £10 but includes the £10 goodybag (during activation automatically puts the bag on) - so the tourists dont have to set stuff up and choose the wrong thing and make mistakes?

Giving them out at Heathrow Tourist Information might be the idea instead of a vending machine (where giffgaff would need to pay)

you pay for the expenses of running the machines...its still a good move. good placement idea ...not only in heathrow.

And make Paypal a method for payment, so visitors can use their paypal account as they will not be able to topup online because GiffGaff insists on a UK credit card with UK address.
