Option to use payback to buy airtime credit for other users

By: william_knapman | 03-01-2014 21:16

I have noticed several posts from people asking whether they can put some of their credit onto another user's account , often parents for children, or between partners etc.

This as I understand it isn't currently allowed.

I think that it would be in giffgaff's interest to allow a member to use payback which is taken as airtime credit to be transferable to other members' accounts.

Otherwise, those who build up sizeable balances can only either select to receive money from pay pal or donate to charity.  Both of these are actual cash outflows to giffgaff whereas airtime credit is of course virtually free (rather akin to the cost of an air miles flight to an airline).

As an example, I am a newish giffgaffer; I received £ 50 payback at 5 December; I only need a £ 5 Hokey Cokey bag each month; I selected payback as airtime credit and now have enough balance to last me most of 2014.

For the June payback, I would prefer to give it to a friend to buy her goodybags which would 'keep it in giffgaff' so to speak.  As things stand I will send it to my pay pal account.

Found this idea...at last! I also suggested this and was told it was already suggested. However, no one told me where, so I could support it. Voted for.

I don't know if I am particularly bothered about whether payback credit specifically can be donated altruistically to other members.

I do think we should be able to top up others accounts from our airtime credit without having to get our card out or trek off to buy a voucher when we already have credit in the balance.
